Charles A. Frederick, 91, of Lake Placid passed away early Thursday morning April 22, 2010 at his residence. He was born in New York City, NY on September 19, 1918 to parents Edward and Mary (Andrews) Frederick. Mr. Frederick served his country in the US Army as an ambulance driver. He started his career as a firefighter and becoming a driver/engineer pump operator with the City of New York Fire Department retiring after 20 years of service. After retirement he moved to Hollywood, FL where he enjoyed boating and fishing. Mr. Frederick was a member of the American Legion and was of the Christian faith. The last of 13 children Mr. Frederick is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Bernadette; daughters, Kathleen Porterfield-LaBerge, Janet Clevenger and Patricia Liles; sons, Robert Charles Frederick and Charles Alfred Frederick, Jr., 8 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and nephew William Neubauer. A service celebrating Mr. Frederick's life will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday April 25, 2010 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Father Michael Cannon celebrating. VFW Honor Guard Flag presentation will immediately follow. Inurnment will take place at the South Florida VA National Cemetery in Lake Worth.
