Charles Franklin Edwards, 86, of Lake Placid went home to be with his Lord on Sunday evening, November 26, 2023 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring. Charles was born on October 14, 1937 in Long Branch, New Jersey and was the son of Kathryn (Thaler) and Everette Edwards. Charles served his country with honors in the United States Air Force. After serving his country, Charles went to work with Eastern Airlines where, after many years of service he retired as cargo manager. Charles has been a resident of Lake Placid for 25 years, moving here from South Miami. He was of the Christian faith that enjoyed a good round of golf, fishing the local lakes, watching old John Wayne movies, any western shows and movies, the history channel and football. Charles loved to be with his family and friends any time they all could get together, especially times with his grand a great-grandchildren. Charles is preceded in death by his loving daughter Karen Mechelle Edwards and he is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Ruth, daughter, Kimberly Horr (David), five grandchildren; Mishel Franklin (Ron), Nicole Koenig, Shelby Edwards, Nicholas Koenig, Madison Jackson and two great-grandchildren; Lydia and Audrey Franklin. A service to celebrate Charles life will be held at a later date.
