Obituary

Cathy Hughes, 74, of Moore Haven, Florida, went to paradise with her savior Jesus on Sunday, September 14, 2025. Cathy was born on October 6, 1950, in Chattanooga, Tennessee but spent most of her life in Nashville.

Cathy had an unparalleled work ethic, breaking glass ceilings in primarily male-dominated fields including accounting, masonry purchasing, drafting and contracting, as well as real estate - retiring from Associated Masonry Products (Murfreesboro) at age 72, moving to FL to enjoy her retirement. Cathy lived as vessel of Christ- helping those less fortunate, acting with empathy rather than for attention, and sacrificing everything - physically, mentally, monetarily, or otherwise for others. She was stunning yet down to earth, strong yet kind, and immeasurably humble.

Cathy is survived by her loving children: Lauren Darke (Hughes) and her husband, Adam; Brandon "Shane" Baker, Christopher "Shawn" Baker and his wife, Catarina; Grandchildren: Todd Anthony Baker, Alexandra Fae Baker, Christian Jacob Baker, Shane's two puppies and Lauren's three rabbits; Three great-grand children: Bryce, Brooke, Blake Baker; Siblings, Lori Lynette Bradley and Stephen, "Stevie" William Bunch. Cathy was preceded in death by parents, Dolores Jane Bunch (Green) and Eugene Roland Bunch; as well as her brother, Rick Bunch.

A service to celebrate Cathy's life will be held at 11 AM ET, Friday, September 19, 2025, at Oak Hill Cemetery. Words of comfort to the family can be made by visiting www.scottfuneralservices.com. Arrangements entrusted to the Scott Funeral Home, Lake Placid, 863-465-4134.
