Carol Ann Towner, 74, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord on Thursday afternoon June 9, 2016 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. She was one of 10 children born to Wells E. Pierce and Mabel L. (MaGill) Pierce on December 31, 1941 in Canisteo, NY. Carol moved to Lake Placid in 1995 coming from Hornell, NY. Carol was a devoted Christian. She loved traveling to New York in the summer to spend time with her family. She particularly looked forward to her annual trip to the mountains of North Carolina, to see the fall colors and spend time in the Christmas and antique shops. Carol had many artistic talents, including working as a floral designer for many years. She had a way of making both family and friends around her feel "special" and loved. Carol is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Harold C. Towner. Together they had a son, Christopher (Karen) Towner and a daughter, Tracia Towner-Avery. She is survived by her sisters, Marion, Marge, Lois, Onalee, Dorthea and Virginia, and brothers, Warren and Lewis. Carol also leaves behind her grandchildren, Zachary Caleb, Eli, Dane, Lucas, Jaden, Kolby, Hailee and Ethan, and great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Madeliene, and Carson, all of whom she :loved" with all her heart". Carol was predeceased by her parents and sister Lucille. A private memorial service will be held for the family to celebrate Carol's life.
