Carl William "Bill" Richter II, 88, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Sunday morning October 5, 2014 at the Lake Placid Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on May 17, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Elizabeth (Ackermann) and Carl William Richter. Bill's career was built in the automobile industry. He was an operator of several car dealerships throughout his career, culminating in the ownership of Richter Volkswagen in Morgantown, West Virginia from 1968 - 1983. Afterwards, he and Doris built a home in Islamorada and enjoyed living on the ocean for many years before moving to Lake Placid in 2000. Bill received his Florida real estate broker's license and worked for Tomoka Heights until his retirement. Bill was a Rotarian for over 40 years and a member of the Lake Placid Noon Rotary Club. He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake Placid. Bill enjoyed life to the fullest by being involved in his church, attending community events, and loving time spent with his family and friends. In earlier times, Bill enjoyed playing tennis, as well as boating and deep sea fishing. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Doris; son Carl William "Bill" Richter III; daughter-in-law Cindy Richter; daughter Carol McNamara; and three grandchildren Garrett, Grace, and Gwyneth McNamara. A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at the Memorial United Methodist Church 500 Kent Avenue Lake Placid with Pastor officiating.
