Betty Hornung, 94, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord in heaven on Tuesday morning May 19, 2015 at her home. The daughter of the late Lucille and Donovan Donze, Betty was born on January 8, 1921 in Warren, PA. She settled here in Lake Placid over 20 years ago, where she met Lawrence. They fell in love and were married on January 13, 1996 at St. James Catholic Church. In their 19 years together, Betty and Lawrence traveled extensively, exploring many places around the world. She enjoyed dancing, big band music, and football and was an avid Notre Dame Football fan. She enjoyed being outdoors, spending time boating and golfing. Her greatest joy was her family. Mrs. Hornung is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence. She is survived by her children; Lynn, Cindy, Susan, Kenneth, Mark, Janet, Gwen and Saul. She has several grandchildren and-great grandchildren. A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Father Michael Cannon Celebrating. A gathering for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time, to honor the life of this very special, gentle and kind lady, whose spirit touched the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Betty's memory to the Cornerstone Hospice 209 N. Ridgewood Drive Sebring, FL 33872.
