Barbara J. Young, 77, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord on Monday morning December 23, 2013 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. She was born on May 30, 1936 in Portland, Indiana to parents Ruth (Fessler) and Jess Harper. She moved to Lake Placid in 2002 from Sandusky, OH after retiring as a real estate property manager for several apartment buildings. Barbara was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Placid and gave her time to various church activities whenever she was able. Barbara enjoyed traveling, shopping, and loved spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Young is survived by her loving husband Charles; daughters, Elizabeth Hernandez, Jodi Stegmeir and Leslie Sertell; sons, James Hall, Steven Stegmeir and David Stegmeir; 11 Grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Norma Jean Lamb, Bonnie Knowles and Nancy Lane. Sisters Patsy Archibold and Mary Jo Hindman preceded her in death. A service to celebrate Mrs. Young's life will be held 2:00 PM Friday December 27, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church 25 Lakeview Street, Lake Placid with Rev. Richard A. Norris officiating.
