Obituary

Barbara Mae Actisdano, age 87, of Lake Placid, Florida, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020.  Daughter of the late James and Esther Smith of Springfield, Illinois, and younger sister of the late brother James, Barbara was born on December 18, 1932.

Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Gabriel Nastri and Michael Actisdano and the faithful and loving mother of the late Vincent Nastri. She is survived by her children and their respective spouses: Dr. David (Erla) Pieplow, Luann (Arnold) Novelli, Theresa (Gene) McDonald, Rosemary Naslund, Lisa Verrilli, Tom (Marcia) Nastri, and Anna Actisdano; her stepchildren: Debbie Actisdano, Michael Actisdano, and Anthony (Patty) Actisdano.  Barbara is the cherished grandmother, known to most as GIGI, of: Amy (David) Harrison, Tanya (Brett) Dunne, Michele (Patrick) Snyder, Tara Vendetta, Chelsea (Greg) Jensen, Briana Novelli, Luke Nastri, Serena Nastri, Andrew (Liz) Pieplow, Aaron (Kara) Pieplow, and Melissa (Antonio Jr.) Martinez; her special beloved nephew, Anthony Guida, and her eleven treasured great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Actisdano was most proud of her large family, creating a montage of pictures and cards joyfully displayed throughout her apartment.  She especially enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who simply called her GIGI.  She found pleasure creating various crafts and was a talented writer and editor.  Barbara loved taking trips with her favorite destinations; Disney World (especially during the holiday season) and following the Miami Dolphins wherever they played.  Baking cookies, playing Bingo, and attending pool parties with her family were a few of her most enjoyable activities.  Barbara embraced the Lord Jesus throughout her Christian life, reading her devotions and ALWAYS generously giving to all, genuinely caring for others.

The family members would like to extend their appreciation for the amazingly wonderful and compassionate care Barbara received during her time at the Balmoral Assisted Living Center and the Lake Placid Health and Rehabilitation Center.  Such kind and devoted workers are truly a blessing from God! In Barbara's loving memory, memorial contributions can be made to: Theresa McDonald, 115 OB Rd. Lake Placid, Fl. 33852. Gifts will be used by the family for a special memorial tribute in the near future.
