IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann Louise
Zlatos-Mathews
March 17, 1958 – January 17, 2021
One of Gods gifts to the world has been called home. Ann Louise Zlatos Mathews returned to heaven on January 17th 2021. Her life in this world was cut short by cancer. Her pain and sorrows are now put away as she resides in the house of the lord. Ann leaves behind her best friend, lover and husband Michael Lee Mathews of Lake Placid. Ann was born in Washington DC and lived in Maryland until nursing school. After graduating from Norfolk General hospital she stayed local, then I asked for her hand in marriage in 1984. Ann is survived by two sons Thomas, Michael Mathews II and wife Sarah who live in Virginia Beach Virginia. Ann will also be missed by her brothers Steven, Richard and the oldest John Zlatos. I will miss my dear wife of 36 years for we were a unique pair. Through the years with all the ups and downs we were always the best of friends. We did most everything together and dearly missed the other one when we were apart. Ann will be cremated here and services will be held in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Ann was a gift from above because she lived to be a nurse. Her dad asked if she wanted to be a doctor and she said I want to help the patients and give them the care they need. Ann got to have a 42 year career of giving hope and care to those around her. Ann had many different positions, floor nurse, lead nurse, supervisor, discharge planner, home health and hospice care. Each patient and person got personalized care. She loved to shop, however you could give her $100 and would come back three hours later with ninety bucks and two items that were on sale. Her favorite outfit was a blouse, shorts and flip flops. Ann was an accomplished seamstress. Her sister Patricia and Ann would make their own band outfits when they were on the baton and flag teams. Ann carried that talent and made many costumes for us and the boys. She was a big Redskin fan. We owned every piece of clothing and jewelry with the team logo on it. My wife was the only woman who could watch more football than I would. Ann was loved by all who knew her, as a nurse, neighbor or family. I will miss my best friend and wife forever.
