Angel Rivera, 97, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Friday afternoon September 25, 2015 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid surrounded by his family. He was born on March 1, 1918 in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico to parents Paula and Pedro Rivera. He served his country with honors in the US Army during WWII. After being discharge he went to work as a civilian truck driver for the military. He then became a maintenance man for a cardboard box manufacturing company in New York. After retiring Angel moved to Lake Placid in 1988. Angel was an avid Giants baseball fan who also enjoyed a good game of dominos. Mr. Rivera loved being with both his family and friends. He was a member of the Primera Iglesia Hispana DDC in Sebring. Mr. Rivera is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Primitiva who passed away in 2006. He is survived by his loving children Loyda Rivera, Josue Rivera and Angel Rivera Jr.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A visitation and service for the family and friends will be held 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Primera Iglesia Hispana DDC Church at 3700 Schumacher Road in Sebring. Burial will be later at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL.
