IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Angel "Angelo"
Manuel Lugo Jr.
October 2, 1946 – July 21, 2024
Angel "Angelo" Manuel Lugo Jr., 77, of Lake Placid, went home to be with his Lord
Sunday morning, July 21, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Angelo was born on October 2, 1946, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was the son of
Angel Manuel Lugo Sr. and Annie (Garcia). Moving to New York in his younger years,
Angel dedicated his life to helping others, no matter what. Serving in the United
States Air Force with honors was one of his proudest accomplishments, second to his
family. Upon discharge, Angelo knew he wanted to continue his service by joining
the New York State Police Department. He dedicated over twenty years of his life to
his service and made many friends along the way. This included becoming a lifetime
volunteer for the Mastic Ambulance. After being a snowbird for many years, Angelo
and his wife decided to become permanent residents of Lake Placid in 1997. While
planting his roots in Lake Placid, he was a member of the Lake Placid Art League, the
American Legion, and South Oak First Baptist Church. Hobbies of his included,
hunting, fishing, wood carving, painting, and making ceramics. Angelo had strong
family values and spent as much time with them as possible. This included his five
puppies, which he always made sure were included. Angelo is survived by his loving
wife of 56 years, Margarita; his daughters, Yvonne Lugo and Wendy Rodriguez; his
son, Glenn Lugo; his brother, James Lugo; and eight loving grandchildren. Service for
Angelo will be Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Scott Funeral
Home, located at 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid. Military Honors will be provided
by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Angelo will be laid to rest at the
Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida on Monday, July 29, 2024 at 10:00
AM.
