Alexander Gene Buczynski, 82, of Lake Placid went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, August 10, at the Advent Health Sebring Hospital. Alexander was born on February 25, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was the son of Virginia "Jean: (Pope) and Alexander G. Buczynski. He served his country with honors in the United States Army, using his talent as a cartographic draftsman. He served in Germany for 2 ½ years during the cold war, before returning to Pittsburgh to marry the love of his life, Lois. Alexander was a retired draftsman making engineering blueprints for Sea World Pavilions, in Aurora, Ohio and The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. Alexander is survived by his wife of 58 years Lois, daughters; Rhonda McKissock (Keith), Renee Sides (Ken), sons; Alexander Jr. (Kelli), and Erik (Sue). Left to cherish his memories are his 10 grandchildren: Jacob, Kenny, Jessica Weeks (Ira), Joe, Matt, Kaitlin, Luke, Dominic, Brandon, and Emily. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Shea and brother; Richard Buczynski. He is preceded in death by his sister, Carol Heidkamp. He was actively involved with his children's interests and served as a Scout Master and Troop Leader for many years. He also used his talents as a former first baseman on his high school State Championship Baseball team when he served as the President and Travel Coach for the North Baldwin Baseball Association. Alexander was of the Catholic faith and an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. In his leisure time you would find him camping and fishing the local lakes, and gardening around the house. After retiring, he moved to Lake Placid 14 years ago. In keeping with Alexander's wishes a service to celebrate his life will be private for his family.
