Agustin Merlo, 88, of Lake Placid, FL went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Lake Placid Health and Rehabilitation Center. Agustin was born on October 26, 1937, in Sandiago, Jalisco, Mexico and was the son of Trinida (Barajas) and Anatolio Merlo. Agustin has been a resident of Lake Placid for the past fifty years, moving here from Trinidad, Yuba City, California. He was a self-employed contractor who was an owner and operator of a local harvesting company. Agustin was of the Catholic faith who attended Mission Santiago Apostal in Lake Placid and enjoyed working outdoors and taken care of his beloved roosters. He loved to be with his family and friends whenever they could get together. Agustin is survived by his loving wife, Aurelia, daughter; Ivone Ellis, sons; Agustin Merlo Jr., Jon Merlo and Jamie Merlo and nine grandchildren. A service to celebrate Agustin’s life will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
